Meet Web
Here we have a couple of categories that you can click into followed by some layers of content related to both of those headings. Simple and to the point.
We Run SF
The beauty of the SF site is that it's the first time I've seen the high resolution of the iPhone put to use. The detail of the textures used is amazing. The contrast of the links on the listing matches up great with the background.
Twitter for iPhone
Twitter just recently redesigned their homepage followed up by a new mobile design. They've stripped what was too complex for the desktop and translated it to work on the mobile. I honestly would have liked to see something that felt a little more like a website tailored to the mobile screen and not just a minified version of their website. Either way, it's still a great experience. It's nice to see large companies putting effort into mobile design.
Lawrence
The high contrast between the header and the rest of the content looks great. The typography is solid and the light contrast between the headings and the white background is beautiful.
Nike Lab
As one of the most recognized brands in the world, Nike has done a great job at carrying that experience to the mobile web. The dark use of color with photos used for iconography helps balance the contrast of the entire mobile site.
Last.fm
They know their product and they know their user. Because of the context of the mobile web, they've done a great job at knowing what you're going to need and only giving you those options. It's good to see companies like Last.fm putting effort into mobile web design.
Indy
Indy does a great job at balancing brand and simplicity. Their use of tab style here works great with their needs.
Grimm Creation
Great use of a two column grid. A rarity for small screens on mobile devices.
Appalanche
A mobile web app that has some great drag and drop interaction on a touch screen.
AaplNow.com
Great use of hierarchy is seen here; it's use helps the user scan and navigate the long list of links. The contrast, colors, and typography all help in aiding the user down the page.
1881
An example of brand experience and simplicity blending together become a perfect mobile experience for a web search company.
Papa Johns
Your location is important when you're wanting something delivered. Having a nation wide company such as Papa John's has done a great job by narrowing in on the context of a mobile user by asking for their location.
Spin the Bottle
One of the few games to take advantage of the iPhone's mobile API. The interaction is a must use. A brilliant mobile web game.
YellowPages
The beauty of the YellowPages mobile website is that it's complex, yet simple. They give you two choices. Find or Maps.
MIT
A mobile website for some of the brightest minds in the world. The iconography used here is a unique take on the iPhone's home screen.
