Newsweek posts tons of content on a daily basis. They've done a great job at narrowing down what content they show by default, but allowing you an easily accessible way to switch sections.
one Crimson Splash
Nice use of the default iPhone user interface but with a twist. This website shows good use of typography and contrast for the mobile web.
Pixel Umbrella
We see homepage JavaScript carousels all the time on the desktop but not when on the mobile web.
Travelocity
Understanding that users are on the go and their context is important shows that Travelocity knew what they were doing when designing their mobile experience.
Sundance
Sundance has done a great job at translating their desktop experience ot their mobile experience. There are so many design styles they've reused or adapted to fit the mobile screen. Pay close attention.
Posh CSS
Posh CSS is a good example for two things. The first is the similar style as their desktop version. The second is the great use of typography for easy reading on a small device.

A typical iPhone styled navigational list with a simplified design style.
Playboy
Playing off the iPhone apps icon style and grid to introduce you to their different products.

Neutral color pallet added to the typical iPhone navigational list.
SignalElement
Large tab nav items complimented with straight and to the point content.
LiveScore
Great example of organizing your content in a sense that it's easy to scan and digest for the mobile web while you're on the go.
Upstruct
Your typical iPhone navigational list spiced up with a blacked out header complimented by a neutral background color.
Feed My Inbox
Great example of a login form for the mobile web. It's large, easy to tap, and looks great wrapped inside of a box like shown here.
NBC
I've seen this plenty of times, but it's awesome to see companies like NBC put effort into mobile web design. They've organized their mobile web site so that it's sectioned into the most relevant content for when you're on the go or just sitting on the couch.
iPhoneSites
I specifically like the design of this mobile site because of how simple it is. It's your average iPhone navigational list but with a nice looking note at the top. The typography is brilliant and the spacing is perfect.
