Volkswagen
Known for great design in their automobiles, it's nice to see such a company as Volkswagen interested in making sure their customers are given a nicely, designed mobile experience. The beauty in the design is that the context has been well planned. You're given three, well thought out, choices to choose from.
DPTO
The beauty of this site comes with the interaction while using it. They've mastered the finger-to-screen interaction. Press, hold, and move your finger around to rearrange their navigation. Simply a design you must use to see the beauty beyond the visuals.
procab
The high contrast use here is beautiful when viewed on a mobile device, specifically the iPhone. Great use of hierarchy for a mobile user to scan through.
FarFromFearless
Good example of translating your desktop design to the work perfect on your mobile web site. Far From Fearless has given us a great way to see how to condense a lot of nav links into a drop down menu. Good stuff.
Coosh
Mass header that spans the entire site is a unique style for a mobile web site; Coosh accomplishes it well. You're not quite sure what Coosh does at first glance, but the modern style and feel draws you into learning.
Blogworld
A good use of introducing and drawing the user to scan the well thought out hierarchy of content.
Baladahj
A unique twist is given to the typical iPhone styled navigation by giving us a couple of tabs to switch through. Straight forward and easy to adapt to.
nclud
A perfect example of translating the desktop experience to the mobile web. Pay close attention to the elements that's been reused or adapted to fit the small screen. By the way, I designed this ;).
HomeFinder
One of my favorites because the context is well thought out. They had a choice of listing houses first but they've given you one choice: search.
Hoovers
Straight forward with who and what they are by breaking it up with three nicely designed icons. Perfectly sized to give you more ways to dig deeper into their mobile site.
Analogue
Presented with their branding to recognize who they are followed by intro text just in case you don't.
Batali
A unique use of the grid for the small screen. Something not many people try to attempt is done well here. A two column grid layout.
Geeksquad
It's always nice to see large corporations make the effort to go mobile. They've done a great job at giving you a primary navigation of helpful tasks that you might need on the go.
Hotel Monterilla
Perfectly sized for the mobile screen, you're given a photography to give you an emotional response while giving you a few choices to dig deeper.
Keypoint
A unique use of the navigation...not in style but in hierarchal purposes. It's a typical nav where "Info" is the homepage. While "info" is the only page of its type, they've done a great job at showing you other possible actions.
Meuguia
A typical iPhone styled navigational list but given beautiful whitespace and contrast.
